  • Program Description: The international economy is affected by many things, including interest rates, exchange rates, labor costs, tariffs, tax and other monetary policies.  We will go over these and more.  Join us as an expert in his field brings us a fascinating summary of it all this month.

    • How the modern international monetary system has evolved
    • Balance of payments approach to measuring international economic activity
    • How price levels and inflation or a country in fluence interest rates and exchange rates
    • Understand the current state of capital mobility
    • Understand the degree to which labor costs and incomes vary between countries
    • Understand current trends in labor movement
    • Understand how current tariff and tax policies are affecting international business activity
    • Understand how current monetary policies are affecting international business activity

 

  • Speaker Bio: Brian Jackson, Ph.D. is an associate professor of accounting and economics at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where he has served university students since 2008. Prior to joining the NSU faculty, Brian worked as a scientist for the U.S. Government / Central Intelligence Agency and taught mathematics, finance, economics and accounting at several colleges and universities in Oklahoma and Texas. He earned a B.S. in mathematics and chemistry from Northeastern State University in 1982, an M.S. in mathematics from the University of Oklahoma in 1984, a Ph.D. in economics from Oklahoma State University in 2005, a post-doctoral certificate in accounting from the Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida, and a graduate certificate in corporate finance from the Harvard University Extension School. He has authored or coauthored articles in the Journal of Economics Education and other economics journals. Previously, as the managing member of Three Rivers Analytics LLC, Brian performed several economic impact studies for various municipalities and development associations across the state of Oklahoma. Brian and his wife Shirley live in Muskogee, teach Sunday School in their church, and together have four children and eleven grandchildren.

CPE Credits are based on a 50-minute hour. State boards of accounting have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Attendee accepts responsibility to determine if course meets acceptable guidelines set forth by their reporting authority.
