  • Program Description: We will discuss why diversity matters in business and what companies of all sizes can do to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.  We will learn through example of the types of programs and efforts Commerce has taken to create a diverse environment and culture of inclusion. Discussion to include unconscious bias.

  • Speaker Bio: Derrick Nelson is the VP, Manager Inclusion & Diversity for Commerce Bank. Derrick drives the I&D strategy through education on key topics, such as inclusive leadership and unconscious bias. He is responsible for guiding and supporting Employee Resource Groups and Inclusion and Diversity Councils at Commerce Bank. These initiatives are designed to improve diversity representation while growing a culture of inclusion throughout the organization by advancing education, awareness, celebration and supplier diversity objectives. Derrick engages collaboratively with leaders and team members at all levels across the organization to advance an inclusive and diverse culture, energize the workplace, and ignites innovation. Additionally, Derrick supports many of the company's internal and external outreach efforts throughout its multi-state footprint.

CPE Credits are based on a 50-minute hour. State boards of accounting have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Attendee accepts responsibility to determine if course meets acceptable guidelines set forth by their reporting authority.
