  • Presenter: Greg Jones

  • Topic: Make a Positive Impact, Build Your CPA Brand, and Build Your Networking by Serving on a Not-for-Profit Board

  • Program Description: An exploration of how to simplify discussion and leverage diversity of people, opinions, knowledge, and intentions while serving on a not-for-profit board.

  • Format: Live Group In Person and Online

  • CPE Credit: 1 hour

  • Field of Study: IGA

  • Program Knowledge Level: Basic

  • Prerequisites: None

  • Learning Objectives:

    • Understand the legal duties of a not-for-profit board
    • Understand the importance of generally accepted meeting practices
    • How to improve due care exercised by trustees on a not-for-profit board

  • Speaker Bio: Greg Jones served as a trustee of TCOSCPA and hosted in-person and online CPE discussions, such as ethics, operational compliance issues surrounding 401(k) plans, basics of serving on non-profit boards, investment and economic updates, and scheduling of other CPE discussion leaders. The Tulsa Chapter of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs honored him as the recipient of the 2018 Distinguished CPA Award.

As a charitable endeavor, Greg’s ‘Robert's Rules Card Game©’ and other tools help simplify discussion and reduce the likelihood of unproductive, unintelligent, and in some cases, contentious not-for-profit board meetings. He seeks to leverage diversity of people, opinions, knowledge, and intentions by offering equal voice in meetings among other important dynamics. Greg also seeks to improve due care exercised by trustees and offer a path of reconciliation among meeting attendees who may fall on the side of the minority of an issue before the board.

  • Refund Policy: Full refund by original method of payment if cancellation received by 4pm on the Friday preceding the event.

CPE Credits are based on a 50-minute hour. State boards of accounting have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
